You can’t spell Key West without K-E-Y L-I-M-E P-I-E... but that’s just the beginning. Key West is more than a destination—it's a full-sensory experience. From salty sea breezes and incredible sunsets to live music drifting down Duval Street, everything here feels alive… especially the food and drink. Whether you're a die-hard foodie or just want to eat like a local, these flavors are more than meals—they’re an experience all in themselves!
🦐 The Freshest Seafood
If it swims in the ocean, chances are it made its way onto a Key West plate that same day. One of the reasons our seafood is so exceptional? Geography. We're surrounded by warm, fish-rich waters and supported by a deep-rooted commercial fishing culture that brings in fresh catches daily.
Start your flavor tour at Eaton Street Seafood Market where the shrimp is sweet, the lobster tails are plump, and the grouper is melt-in-your-mouth fresh. You can take it home to grill or have them steam it right there. From there, walk over to B.O.’s Fish Wagon—a funky, open-air joint with serious island charm—and grab their legendary grouper sandwich. Lightly fried, served on Cuban bread, and dripping with local flavor... it's a sandwich you'll never forget.
🍋 The Iconic Key Lime Pie
No visit is complete without a slice of Key lime pie—it’s our signature dessert and an edible piece of history. Made from Key limes (smaller and more tart than your average lime), sweetened condensed milk, and a graham cracker crust, this dessert balances creamy and tangy in all the right ways.
Locals have serious loyalty when it comes to their favorite slice. Kermit’s is a classic, especially their pie-on-a-stick dipped in chocolate. Blue Heaven offers a towering meringue version in a garden paradise setting, while Old Town Bakery goes for a more traditional, perfectly tart rendition.
My favorite is Cafe Sole! It’s rich, decadent, and topped with toasted marshmallow and Chantilly cream. It’s basically heaven in pie form—and you’ll be dreaming about it long after your trip ends.
🍹 Sip Like a Local
When the sun sets in Key West, the town comes alive in a different way. Whether you’re into craft cocktails, dive bars, or rum straight from the source, there’s something for every kind of sipper here.
Start with a mojito or rum punch at Green Parrot Bar one of the oldest and most iconic watering holes in Key West. Known for its live music and come-as-you-are vibe, it’s a must-stop for both locals and visitors. If you want a different view, head to The Bull & Whistle and make your way to the rooftop bar. With views of Duval and the ocean breeze in your hair, it's the perfect way to end your night. Feeling adventurous? Try a local rum flight or a Hemingway daiquiri—it’s what Papa would’ve wanted.
Whether you're sipping, savoring, or sweet-toothing your way through town, Key West is best experienced one bite and one drink at a time. So dig in, raise your glass, and find your favorites—because in this island paradise, flavor is everywhere.
